The park is a mosaic of different habitats, where graceful giraffes roam the woodlands and buffaloes graze in open fields. Next, we traveled to Tarangire National Park, famous for its impressive elephant herds and ancient, towering baobab trees.

The untamed wilderness immediately captivated us, with large herds of elephants, sometimes numbering in the hundreds, a common sight.

The Tarangire River, a vital water source, attracts a high concentration of wildlife, especially during the dry season. Birdwatchers were also in for a treat, with over 550 species to spot.

Lake Manyara National Park: Home of the Tree-Climbing Lions

Our next stop was the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. 

This park is renowned for its unique tree-climbing lions, a surreal sight to behold. Experts believe this behavior helps the lions escape biting insects on the ground or catch a cool breeze.

The park's varied ecosystems, from groundwater forests to acacia woodlands, support a rich tapestry of life.

A significant portion of the park is covered by the alkaline Lake Manyara, which often hosts vast flocks of pink-hued flamingos.

We also embarked on a guided tour of a local spice farm. Here, we discovered the spices that gave the island its fame, such as cloves, vanilla, and black pepper.
