Frequently asked questions
Seven-day routes compress the climb - you reach altitude too fast. Altitude sickness rates spike to 30–40%. Our 8-day Lemosho includes an extra night above 3,500m and rest days integrated throughout. This proven strategy yields an 85% summit success rate (vs. 60% for 7-day rushes). You're ascending properly, not racing.
Altitude sickness (AMS) happens when your body adjusts to thin air. Symptoms: headache, nausea, fatigue. Our guides monitor you daily with an oxymeter (measures oxygen saturation). We carry oxygen tanks and medications. If symptoms worsen, we descend immediately - no heroics. The 8-day pace prevents most cases.
Summit is always cold (–20°C to 0°C). Lower elevations are warm during the day, cold at night. Lemosho's west side gets more rain than southern routes—that's why we provide quality gear. Snow can happen but isn't dangerous if prepared. We have waterproof jackets and insulated tents.
